Three Songs for Hindustani Vocalist, Soprano, and Chamber Ensemble

I. Saiyan (Soul) – Fantasy on a Song by Shobha Gurtu

II. Geliebte Sakhi – Beloved Friend

III. Tarana – Dance

Original version (for Hundustani Vovalist, Soprano, and Sinfonietta) premiered at the University of Texas at Austin, Bates Recital Hall, with Saili Oak, Hindustani Vocalist, Suzanne Lis, Soprano, Nicholas Perry Clark, Conductor, and the prismatx ensemble. Three Songs has also been performed in Phoenix with Musica Nova Orchestra AZ in 2019.

In 2019, Three Songs received an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award.

This project was generously supported by the Richard E. Rainwater Fund for American Music and the South Asia Institute of the University of Texas at Austin.
