Antonin Fajt is a Czech pianist, composer, and electronic musician based in New York. His music spans the areas between folk music of Eastern Europe, contemporary classical music, minimalism, and jazz improvisation. Influenced by the great pianist improvisers from Sun Ra to Craig Taborn, Antonin incorporates the language of Czech folk songs and other traditional musics into an improvisational and rhythmically inventive language. He studied composition at Bard College and holds a PhD in music from University of California Irvine. He has performed with Iva Bittová, Niloufar Shiri, Gyan Riley, Steve Gorn, Tyshawn Sorey, the ICE Ensemble, Eyvind Kang, Jessika Kenney, George Mraz, and Vladimír Václavek among others. His performances with Iva Bittová have had international acclaim at festivals such as Ottawa Jazz Festival, Eurojazz Festival in Mexico City, Bohemia Jazz Festival in Prague, Ethno Port in Poland, Pohoda Festival in Slovakia, and Jazz-á-Luz festival in France.
