Ring of Fire @ Cal State Fullerton

California sits on the eastern edge of the Pacific’s Ring of Fire, a vast circle of volcanoes and seismic energy encompassing nearly 75% of the planet’s active volcanoes. Brightwork embarks on a musical voyage across this ring—from Peru to Cambodia—revealing the interconnected voices and rhythms of cultures that share this dynamic boundary. The program features Gabriela Lena Frank’s Hilos, Andy Akiho’s Lost on Chiaroscuro Street, Pam Madsen’s Ad Astra, as well as music by Chinary Ung, and a new work by Hesam Abedini. Performed by Aron Kallay (piano), Shalini Vijayan (violin), Maggie Parkins (cello), and Brian Walsh (clarinet).
