Program Note

Originally composed in 1987 and revised in 2022.
This piece is about breathing together in this present moment and celebrating the Daoist concept of “do less and accomplish more.” I composed Frozen Pursuits while transitioning from the school of music to the film school at Cal Arts in the late ’70s. (The piece outgrew its original title, “Glacial Waltz,” when the second section was written). –Jim Gable
