Composer

Cuban composer, pianist, educator and director of children’s orchestras. Born in Havana, and She lives in Italy since 1997.

She has won numerous prizes for composition, such as, the International Music Fair CUBADISCO (2013), in the category classical music; CINTAS fellowship Award in USA (2012); 1st Prize in the “International Competition for Women Composers”, Venice, Italy (2004); National Prize for Composition from the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (1993); Prize for Artistic Creation from the Higher Institute of Art of La Habana, Cuba (1993) and the Prize for Composition from the National School of Art of La Habana, Cuba (1990).

She has had commissions from institutions such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan; the “Reina Sofía” Contemporary Art Center of Madrid; the New Music Miami Festival & the Williams Ensemble (U.S.A); the Ensemble Insomnio of Amsterdam, and others.

She is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and has composed pieces for different formats which have been recorded by Periferia Music (Barcelona) & Pizzicato Verlag Helvetia (Switzerland) & Sello Autor (Madrid) & Rey Rodriguez Productions (Hamburg) & RYCY Productions (Los Angeles – USA) & Tutto Musik (Berlin) & Verso (Madrid) & Musica y Educacion Magazine (Madrid) & Parma Infanzia (Italy) & City Hall of Parma (Italy) and performed at festivals and on radio programmes in many countries throughout the world such as the USA, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico and Argentina to name but a few. ​
