Guiomar Espiñeira
Flute
Guiomar Espiñeira was born in the culturally flourishing city of Bilbao, Spain. She began her musical studies at the age of 5.
She studied flute at the Conservatory of the Basque Country (Musikene) with Miguel Angel Angulo. Between 2006 and 2009 she continued her musical education at Hamburg’s “Hochschule für Musik und Theater” with Prof. Moshe Aron Epstein. She conducted her Masters’ studies at the “Messiaen Academy” in Zwolle in the Netherlands with Jorge Caryevschi. Afterwards, she achieved a Postgraduate “Liceo Conservatory” under the tutelage of Jùlia Gallego.
She later diversified her skills with a broad range of master classes with renowned maestros like Jaime Martin, Magdalena Martinez, Robert Dick, Octavio Diaz Alvaro, Paul Edmund Davies, Carin Levine, Emmanuele Ophelé and George Alyrol.
In the time period spanning 2006 to 2009, she won the Scholarship for Music from the Biscay Forum Delegation. In 2008 she was awarded a grant from “Landesmusikrat Hamburg” (Hamburg Council of Music) allowing her to expand on her contemporary chamber music repertoire in Chartreuse de Villeneuve in Avignon, France. In 2009, she was awarded a DAAD scholarship and has also remained a grant holder in the Yehudi-Menuhin Foundation since that year.
Guiomar collaborated with many orchestras, including the “Bilbao Symphony Orchestra”, the “Euskadi Symphony Orchestra”, the “Schleswig-Holsteinisches Sinfonieorchester”. the “Bilbao Philharmonia” and the “Klassik Philharrmonie Hamburg ” which has allowed her to work with conductors like Lutz Köhler Juan José Mena, Salvador Mir Enrique and García Asensio.
Especially interested in contemporary music, she became a member of the “ensembleintegrales” in 2008. She premiered numerous works by composers such as Burkhard Friedrich, Arturo Fuentes, Ioannis Papadopoulos and Bello Portu. Guiomar has also performed with various ensembles like “Volumina Consort”, “Decoder Ensemble”, “OPUS XXI”, or “Ensemble XXI” on several recording projects.
