Zara Teicher

French Horn

Zara is into embracing “imperfections” and happy accidents. She explores this idea of radical acceptance and honesty in her art/music making practice. It’s all right where it should be.

Zara is a practitioner of Sivananda Yoga.

Recently, Zara has been sharing her work at yoga/meditation events in Southeast Michigan.

Zara’s musical performance experience includes: a residency at UC-San Diego with Trio Kobayashi, performances at REDCAT (a favorite being playing a horn solo w/live processing by and with composer Mark Trayle), performing with the ensemble wild UP (including at at UCLA’s Hammer Museum, the Monday Evening Concert Series at Zipper Hall and The Broad Stage), and the Dog Star Orchestra Festival (all in Los Angeles). She performed at the Darmstadt Summer Festival for New Music in Germany and the Klangspuren Music Festival in Austria as a participant in the International Ensemble Modern Academy. Also at the Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival in Detroit. Also some performances with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. You can hear her on the recording of “Winters in the Abyss” by Ulrich Krieger which was released on Pogus Records.

Zara has a Master of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts, a Bachelor of Music degree (French horn performance) from Northwestern University, and is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy in Northern Michigan.

Zara lives in the Detroit area with her son Remy and Corgi Lucille.
